Having two kids

Throughout my pregnancy, people asked me if Toby knew what was going to happen. Most of the time it didn't seem like he was aware of what was going on in our family, though sometimes he would kiss my belly. When he came to see me in the hospital, he was excited from the second he walked through the door. He ran straight over with cries of "Char-wee" "I see, I see" and "My baby." When his pediatrician came in, he walked straight over, stuck out his hand and said "Hi Doctor, I'm Toby." Then he watched the Doc examine his brother. He was excited to come see Charlie everyday and over the moon when we brought him home.

Charlie is two months old tomorrow and we have not had one second of jealousy. A few weeks back I was reading to Toby at bedtime, Charlie was in the other room in his crib. When Toby heard Charlie start to cry, he interrupted the story and told me to go look after Charlie. He likes to help with diaper changes, insisting on seeing the poop and putting the diaper in the pail. He enjoys reading to his brother and showing him the things he is playing with.

We are very aware that we have lucked out to have such an understanding two year old in our family!

I'm not dead

I'm not dead, I'm just not blogging right now. While I pretend to be a SAHM for three months, Husby is working nights to make up the difference somewhat. I do not take naturally to this and so my time management is somewhat off. Right now I am typing with one hand, on my netbook, on the island in my kitchen. I am standing with a very fussy, but right now dozing, baby in my BabyBjorn. Charlie was an absolute angel for almost two months, he has now discovered that cranky is more fun than calm and happy. I don't think he likes the re runs of Star Trek Next Generation in the background, though they are present for mummy's sanity. Yesterday was the first time I found myself glad that I go back to work in a month, oh for a simple accounting problem!

To do list today:
  • Put away already cleaned and dried laundry, ignore the load in the washer, the other in the dryer and the other on the basement floor
  • Find a recipe and make crockpot potatoes for dinner
  • Finish making Toby's new PJ pants (long shot, they have been cut out for three weeks now!)
  • Order toilet roll online!
  • Register online with immigration
  • Pray that my new passport comes soon
And all of this goes away to hug my baby if he is cranky, to calm him down, or if he is happy because that's just lovely.
