Election Results

So.

I'm quite happy with the outcome of my first election. Some things I voted for got passed, some things I voted for got dismissed. Some things I voted for were canceled out. Some things I voted against got passed.

I am really happy that Question 1 passed in Maine. I don't agree with Muslims or Buddhists but I do not believe it is the place of my government to be granting me rights for being Christian or restricting those who practise something else. I don't believe in Abortion but I don't think it is my place or the governments place to be restricting those who believe it is their only option.

Just because I'm not gay doesn't mean I don't think the government should darn well stay out of the practise of telling people how to live their lives. In this case silence is not a viable option. We needed Suffrage once. We needed affirmative action once. Right now, we need things like question one.

My friends Uncles just got engaged. They get to file taxes together now. They get power of attorney over each other. They get a voice.

  1. Beautiful words, and they hold a lot of truth. I also do not believe in abortion. That is my believe system, and I cannot force that onto someone else. I do believe that it should/needs to be an informed decision and not used as a form of birth control....and if the right to an abortion is taken away from a woman, my concern is what would be next...I am not gay either, but I have bestfriends who are. We do not discuss their sexual practices, and I do not discuss my sexual practices. Love is Love.
Oh, love your blog, I'll be back!
