The day after thanksgiving

Hmmm...

Thanksgiving was canceled.

Suffice it to say that Husby caught something that could easily be used on an episode of House and left me as a single parent until Monday when he comes off the Valium, yes that's right, Valium.

At times I have felt ready to wallow in self pity, mostly when Toby was in the middle of a temper tantrum (it's a new thing with him) or sit and scream with him. However this evening when I would have been trimming my tree and eating Christmas cookies with Husby I treated myself.

Having taken Toby into the bowels of Black Friday at Joanns, Kohls, AC Moore and yes even that holiest of holies - Target - I had made a new yarn purchase. This is a project that I've had in mind for myself for two years now and not done. This year the holiday season has kicked off in a very rough way so I decided to treat myself, so this was my evening...

And since I know many of you gasped in horror at the thought of taking a 14 month old out on Black Friday, and knowing that when I say there was snow on the ground and ice on the windows some of you will just clean pass out, let me say this. He loved it. I had only one agenda, yarn and PJ's. He loves people and charmed everyone and since there were no doorbusters I had to hit or items I had to buy it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. We split it in two, taking on two stores in the am and two stores in the pm. For the morning trip we used shopping carts, for the afternoon we used the English stroller, with rain cover it was admired by all.

The deal of the day?

That would be a toss up between Homespun yarn at less than three dollars a pop and the two boxes of Stovetop stuffing purchased (with coupons) for a mere fifty cents!

Happy Christmas everyone!
